This year, I decided to expand my horizons by enrolling with the Nova Scotia Agricultural College with the help of Master Gardeners of Ontario Brantford chapter. There are 4 courses to complete within a 3 year period so this is serious stuff. The first course is Plant ID (100 species to recognize by their common names & Latin nomenclature- well, just don't expect me to remember them indefinitely). Learning something new is truly a brain balm! This is a picture of a bleeding heart or Dicentra spectabilis, by the way.Nova Scotia is where Valerie, my daughter lives with her hubby Richard but that doesn't mean I commute. The course is online and that in itself is a huge learning curb for me. Fortunately, the course is delivered through WebCT which is user friendly(a bonus for a baby boomer like me).
I passed the final test & now a huge assignment ("Garden for Birds") is on its way of being completed; then, I will sign up for the next course in October.
